No text amendment for skating rink

The neighborhood of Pancake is adamantly against the text amendment which would change the zoning rights for the former skating rink that resides on 10 McCoy Lane. This change (in text amendment )will foster the plans for a bar/brewery and restaurant to reside among a well established family oriented neighborhood. If allowed this establishment will significantly and negatively impact the families that call this home. The significant increase in traffic is a major safety issue for children in this neighborhood. Some of patrons that would frequent such an establishment would significantly undercut the family fabric that makes up the well known community of Pancake. The property values of the families that own homes around this establishment would be greatly and negatively affected.
With the climate of addiction that has swamped Washington, the families and hard working individuals of South Strabane find refuge in neighborhoods like Pancake. Our quiet family oriented community is at stake with the motion to allow/create the text amendment which would allow a bar, brewery and distribution center to reside among us.
We understand that many families and businesses reside along side each other in many different parts of South Strabane. However, those business have been long standing and established when home owners purchase their private resides, therefore they know what they are getting into. Our neighborhood is vastly different from that scenario. You are asking for a comminity to accept the development of a establishment that would place their families and sanctuary at risk and significantly undercut our property values. Although there was a former landscaping business that operated at the end of McCoy Lane 30 years ago, and the Schrontz Excavating business also operates off of McCoy, these business are no longer in operation. We as a community are wanting all business commerce to stay on East Maiden exclusively.
We unanimously say NO to the proposed text amendment for the skating rink which would foster the development of a brewery and/or distribution center!
