Avatar: The Last Airbender was a successful animated television program that aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008. It was geared at people between the ages of 12 to 18, but was successful among all age groups.
The Last Airbender covered many important issues, from love and friendship, to rebuilding the world after a devastating genocide. The show also accurately represented many groups that are currently underrepresented in the media.
There were many strong, dynamic female characters and characters of color. Avatar was very important to its fanbase, and many people continue to watch it even 5 years after the termination of the program.
Until recently, these fans were able to view Avatar: The Last Airbender through the Netflix platform. We are urging Nickelodeon to allow Avatar to return to Netflix.
We, the undersigned, call on Nickelodeon to return the rights to Avatar: The Last Airbender to Netflix, Inc. and allow Netflix, Inc. users to stream Avatar: The Last Airbender through the Netflix platform.
