Nick Jr Please Pick Up Barney & Friends

This is my petition for Nick Jr. to pick a classic childrens' series, Barney and Friends. It used to air on PBS stations (especially the Sprout Channel) until 2015. And it hasn't aired on TV since.

A revival of the series was set for a 2017 launch. However, nothing new has since been announced from this, leading the revival being pushed to an unspecified date.

And if anyone who is a fan of the original classic Barney episodes from Seasons 1 to 6, please sign this petition so that Nick Jr would pick up the series to not only revive the series, but also have Nick Jr to show the classic episodes of the series (including episodes from Seasons 1 to 6) and Barney and the Backyard gang series to bring back our childhood memories.

Barney & Friends, regardless of personal opinion, has helped children learn in about 270 territories around the world. The Emmy Award-winning series hasn't been in production since 2009, but I feel it's time to bring the series back onto television. There is no better time to have the series return, considering it's the 30th anniversary of Barney & Friends.

The series is threatened due to a lack of funding. The studio where the series has been filmed since 2001 has closed and many of the props have been sold. I feel Mattel needs to realize that, despite a decline in ratings and sales, Barney still means a lot to people. Not just to the children who grew up on the series, but those who still watch it to this day.

Many children who were the first to watch Barney & Friends are now parents have children of their own that watch reruns of the series. Future generations won't be able to experience the "dinosaur sensation" himself if the series isn't revived.

Barney himself, to many of the children who watch the series, is an endearing friend who tracends ethnic, racial, and gender lines to help others in need. For nearly 25 years, the character has been across the globe for the goodwill of children from Singapore and Israel to Dubai and Argentina. He often makes stops at hospitals to visit children and reassure them that everything will be alright.

In short, such an endearing character and a television series that has been around for 20 years shouldn't end like this. Barney is still in the hearts of children across the globe and, if this petition is successful, he could touch the hearts of millions more for a long time to come.
