New Crosswalk at 34th and Tunnel Exit St.

This is a petition to request the installation of a pedestrian crosswalk signal at 34th street at the intersection of Tunnel exit street.

Tunnel exit street is located on 34th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues in Manhattan. While there is a stoplight on Tunnel Exit St, and one on 34th, there is not a crosswalk allowing pedestrians to legally cross the two way thoroughfare.

A new gym has opened on one side of this minor intersection as well as a new luxury apartment building on the other. Many people disregard the lack of a crosswalk and jaywalk at this location.

The addition of the signal will facilitate a solution to dangerous jaywalking as well as encourage drivers to slow down on this turn and yield to pedestrians and perpendicular traffic, something that is rarely seen at the current time.
