Global warming is the gradual increase in the earth's temperature due to the greenhouse effect. This problem has been observed over the last 2 centuries, and it comes from several enormous problems, such as deforestation, the use of vehicles, overpopulation, agriculture, industrial development, and forest fires.
What is the greenhouse effect? Like the name, the greenhouse effect works like a greenhouse. To put this into perspective, think of a greenhouse on a warm day. Inside there are plants such as tomatoes, carrots, and other vegetables. Think of these plants as our planet, Earth. Even if it's cold outside, the greenhouse captures the sun's warmth, so all the pants stay warm. This is because the glass walls trap the sun's heat. Think of the glass walls as the earth's atmosphere. Gasses in our atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide, trap the heat on earth similar to the way greenhouses trap their own heat. Such gasses are called greenhouse gases.
So how do humans affect the greenhouse effect? Human activities are changing the natural greenhouse effect, like burning fossil fuels and oil that can put more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Too much of these gasses can trap too much heat, heating up our planet to an unhealthy amount. This is global warming.
To try and spread more awareness about this dire situation, sign this petition: enter picture of petition. This petition will not only try and convince people of parliament to move our 2050 net zero emission goal to 2040, but also add canceling out coal, gas, and oil exports to the plan Australia has made to reach net zero.
the petition will be presented to our minister in Canberra, Andrew Barr. he will hopefully present the petition to the house of representatives to introduce this change.
this petition will help bring the net zero agreement to 2040
