When the R train was shut off between Brooklyn and Manhattan after Sandy, the 2 month service disruption caused chaos for thousands of commuters.
Now, the MTA wants to shut off this critical link for 14 months without offering options such as running trains over the bridge during rush hour or expanding the amount of connections to ease over-crowding.
Not only will this disruption cause a daily nuisance for more than a year, it could pose serious issues in times of emergency.
By signing this petition, you are asking the MTA to re-evaluate at this planned R train service closure (starting August 2013).
Obviously the repairs are needed, but the MTA is not doing enough to ease congestion or limit the disruption to its commuters.
