In February 2018, Nationals Member of Parliament George Christensen posted a photo on Facebook showing himself pointing a gun with the caption:
"You gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, greenie punks?"
Mr Christensen has since taken down the post, but so far has refused even to apologise.
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) was looking into the matter but on 09 March 2018 the AFP announced they would be not be taking any action on the matter. not even a fine! Not even a cancellation of Mr Christensen's gun license. Not even a pubic apology required! It is disgraceful and the AFP are not doing their job.
But this is not just a question of apologising. Charges must be laid by the Australian Federal Police against Mr Christensen,
It has been suggested that this complaint against Mr Christensen is politically motivated. However, it does not matter which politician behaves in this way, or who leads the complaint. It is not acceptable behaviour by a Federal politician and they must be charged under the law.
As a Member of Parliament in the Federal Government, Mr Christensen holds a senior pubic office. His Facebook post and caption is an incitement to violence, and particularly in the context of his senior public office. Mr Christensen must be charged to send a clear message to the community that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable by anyone, let a lone a Federal politician. It is totally irresponsible.

We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Federal Police, to reverse their decision not to lay charges against the Federal Member of Parliament, Mr George Christensen, following Mr Christensen's posting on Facebook a photo of himself aiming a gun in firing position, and including the caption:
"You gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, greenie punks?"
This is totally unacceptable behaviour by anyone, let alone a person holding such a senior pubic office as Mr Christensen. It sends a dangerous signal to the community. It is an incitement to violence and an incitement to shoot people.
We call on the Australian Federal Police to reverse its decision not to lay charges against Federal MP George Christensen, and apply the law as appropriate.
