The AMF Petersen Classic Bowling Tournament is an annual tournament run from Mid-April to Labor day that is named after the founding father of the tournament, Louis P. Petersen.
The first 98 Petersen Classics were contested at either the recreation center at Archer and 35th or AMF Hoffman Lanes, and in each of those 98 years the Petersen classic was contested on a wooden lane surface.
In 2008 at the conclusion of the 98th Petersen, with the deteriorating conditions of the wooden lanes at AMF Hoffman Lanes, it was decided by the owners of Hoffman Lanes, the AMF Corporation to install more durable and easier to maintain synthetic bowling lanes.
We, the undersigned, call on the AMF Corporation, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, to explore and implement moving the Louis P. Petersen Championship Bowling Tournament to a suitable bowling center within Illinois, Indiana or Michigan, with wooden lanes, that is willing to host the Petersen Classic Bowling Tournament at it's current fees, and using its current Mid-April to Labor Day competition dates.
