On March 11, 2011, Stanton Spaugy slashed his puppy's throat with a hunting knife and left it to bleed to death in his truck. He claims the 7-month old puppy, who had spent his life on a chain, was a danger to others.
He is hoping to pay a fine and enter a program for first time offenders that will wipe his record clean. There is absolutely no remorse for what this puppy suffered.
We, the undersigned, urge that Stanton Spaugy be charged with animal cruelty for the cold-blooded killing of his dog and be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
On March 11, 2011, Stanton Spaugy slashed his puppy's throat with a hunting knife and let it bleed to death in his truck. He claims the 7-month old puppy, who had spent his life on a chain, was a danger to others. The puppy had broken free from his tether and Spaugy claims he tried to attack two girls on the block.
Rather than take the puppy to a rescue or shelter for evaluation, Spaugy slashed its throat, putting an agonizing end to a life that had clearly been spent in neglect and misery. Spaugy is completely unashamed and even seems oblivious to the fact that he did something horrible.
To his mind, it was nothing, but an animal and his attitude makes it clear that this puppy never knew a moment of human kindness as long as this man was his master. It will take the maximum penalty for Spaugy to realize he has even committed a crime.
