The No Kill movement works for all healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats to be guaranteed loving homes. Despite having many financial and community resources, the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA continue to be a kill shelter.
Pasadena received 2.5 million dollars in donations in 2008, yet it remains a kill shelter. Many other shelters in the area are No Kill and have less funding such as San Gabriel and Glendale Humane.
Recently Pasadena got licensing for the Glendale area and consequently a larger number of animals’ lives are at risk. By becoming No Kill Pasadena could potentially save the lives hundreds of adoptable animals.
We call upon the Pasadena Humane Society to develop a plan for becoming a No Kill animal shelter in the future. By implementing policies to increase adoption, fostering, and affordable spay and neutering, a goal of No Kill is possible. We believe that the city, community, and Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA collectively have the resources to become a No Kill shelter.
We, the undersigned, call on the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA to become a No Kill shelter.
