As a current Hickory County, Missouri resident I am starting this petition to show the interest level of myself and many other local citizens in an OHV riding area. Right now the nearest available riding area is Cooper Creek in Deepwater, Mo. and Chadwick OHV park in Chadwick, Mo.
Considering today's increased cost of living it would be very beneficial for people to have a place to go and ride their ATV's that is more local than the afore mentioned area's.
Hermitage, Mo the county seat of Hickory County is for the most part a seasonal economy based on Lake Pomme De Terre so therefore businesses do well in the summer months and not so well in the fall and winter months. If there were a local ATV park it would benefit local businesses as well due to attracting outside visitors to the ATV park.
It wouldn't be unreasonable for the Corp of Engineers to charge for daily passes or yearly passes to help with the cost of trail markers and park upkeep.
We, the undersigned, call on the Corp of Engineers to designate an area of land in Hickory County, Mo. to be used by OHV riders for the purpose of recreational riding.
