The American Top 40 radio program is doing a disservice to the music and radio industry by not commissioning to count down the top 40 songs from the official Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, which was used from the show's inception in 1970 to November 23, 1991.
The chart was and is still widely regarded as the industry standard for tracking the popularity of singles. We feel that the MediaBase Mainstream chart is solely used to maintain corporate control by way of consultants and regional corporate music directors over singers, songwriters, music producers, radio program directors and radio talent therby censoring and punishing their audience.
Due to corporate outcries regarding the evolving mainstream music industry, Billboard compromised with radio station's concerns over the changing market with entrance of alternative rock and rap music and AT 40 would use a mainstream airplay chart until the show chose to abandon Billboard altogether.
We strongly ask that the American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest radio series, presented by Premiere Networks, hereby commission the Billboard Hot 100 as the chart of record once again.

Billboard has continued to set the trend on what music is popular and is widely looked at as the one of the most important music charts in the world. Billboard works to improve their accuracy now with the inclusion of data from the top digital music streaming services worldwide. MediaBase is antiquated and is regulated to only serve their own interests and those of the major music conglomerates that will continue to hold down what songs are gloabally relevant and not relevant in the US.
We strongly ask that the American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest radio series, presented by Premiere Networks, hereby commission the Billboard Hot 100 as the chart of record once again.
