Many of our laws in the justice system are moral based laws not just laws against violent behavior. For instance statutory rape is against law even if the sex is consensual. While I do not condone it in any sense of the word I do believe that it is a non violent crime in most cases.
What I strive to do is open people's eyes to the idea that adultery should go down as a punishable crime by the law. Not only does adultery go against moral behavior but it puts the well being of others at risk. Children are the main people who are affected by a parents infidelity. IT can cause mental issues and can cause trust issues for the children as they grow older.
It is one of the leading causes in divorce, and maybe if the act of infidelity was punishable by law for both parties then maybe it would not happen as often. Also, while it is a factor in divorce if adultery is committed then it should forfeit the right of sole or joint custody to the adulterer and they should not be able to contest it in court either. Conspiracy to commit adultery should be a crime as well. The act of pursuing someone outside of the marriage through phone calls, meetings, or e-mails should be treated as an offence.
I believe if this law is passed for all fifty states then the divorce rate would go down and violent crimes among women would go down as well.
We, the undersigned, call on to Law Reform to pass a law making adultery and conspiracy to commit adultery a crime punishable by law.
We feel the passing of this law would bring down the divorce rate and the statistics of violence committed by women.
Not to mention it would prevent the pain and suffering families go through when a parent and or spouse commits the unthinkable act of adultery.
