St James Ethics Centre, the NSW Federation of P&C Associations and a cross-section of community leaders have requested ministerial approval to pilot a course in ethics to serve as a complement to scripture in NSW primary schools.
This has been done on the basis that all children have the right to ethical exploration, regardless of whether it’s tied to a particular religious tradition.
There will be 10 schools selected as part of the pilot program, and schools have been asked to self-nominate to the Premier Nathan Rees.
We, the undersigned, call for Leichhardt Public School to be put forward to Premier Nathan Rees as a pilot school for the 2010-2011 school year for an ethics-based compliment to scripture course.
