In April 2008, Sheffield Wednesday unveiled the season ticket prices for the 2008/09 season. This was unusual as the league in which they would be playing in still hadn't been confirmed. When most other teams seemed to be freezing or even lowering their prices, Sheffield Wednesday raised theirs by 13%, the highest price hike in the club's history.

Many wondered how this could be justified when their cross-city neighbours Sheffield United announced prices of upto £100 less. The credit crunch that has hit the country during the summer has meant that even more cannot afford to attend matches.

All this culminated on the 13th September 2008 when just 17,066, the lowest home league attendance in six years, attended the game against Watford. This cannot go on any longer.

Many season ticket holders may feel they would lose out if a price reduction occured, but I for one would rather see 5,000 more fans in the ground. The club lowered prices for the last game of last season and there was a complete sell-out.

We, the undersigned, call on Sheffield Wednesday to lower matchday (and half-season) ticket prices for the remainder of the 2008/09 season.
