We want local people to benefit from the £200m Durham Gate project that is underway on the former Black & Decker site in Spennymoor.
Our town has seen its well-paid manufacturing jobs disappear over the recent years, which has left many people still out of work and has affected the local economy as a whole.
The alternative is that wages earned will go to other parts of the country, or worse, be sent abroad by employing foreign labour from countries such as Germany, Finland and Lithuania, which happened at the power station in Chilton.
We in the British National Party believe in local jobs for local people.
