I am a daily driver in New York City. I live in Brookyln and work in Westchester, so I have no choice but to drive. I have seen the worst accidents and traffic in the pass year of work out here.
I came to find that 7 out of 10 times it's between an older person and whom ever else. I recently was a witness to the wreckless driving of an elderly woman. She had hit the side of my vehicle and kept going; when she was pulled over by police, nearly after destroying my car mirror and door, she said and quote "what did I hit, where is the damage, I can't see it" while standing in front of the damaged vehicle.
I hear of stories day to day of senior citizens crashing into things, vehicles and even people. An 80 year man killed a young person with his vehicle because he couldn't see them. This has to stop.
As a tax payer, I believe there should be a limit to where and what times the seniors should be allowed to drive without a younger person operating the vehicle for them. We are paying for Medicare, Access Ride, Home aide, there is pensions and retirement money they could use for taxi's to get around when needed.
Where are their children or grandchildren to assist them? This is a serious problem on our roads. If you have no where to be the hours of 7-9am and 4-7pm you should not be on the roads. This is rush hour for the working class, and we should not have to tolerate inconsiderate people. Older Folks Stay Home and Off the Road.. You should be relaxing anyways..
