Lidl have agreed a deal (subject to planning) to acquire the former Peugeot Car Dealership site on Ley Street, Ilford. Lidl submitted a planning application (Planning Reference 0044/14) on 8 January 2014 which was registered on 15 January 2014 to demolish the existing car dealership and workshop buildings and construction of a new building to provide a food store with a 1,157 m2 sales area and 72 car parking spaces.
The site has been occupied by a number of different parties in recent years and does not currently make a positive contribution to the character of the area. Many of the activities carried out on site potentially to impact on the amenity of the occupants of the surrounding residential properties. Our proposal will regenerate this brownfield site with a modern, efficient store offering Newbury Park residents a discount alternative to the current food offer within Newbury Park Local Centre.
The development would bring a greater shopping choice to local people and create up to 30 new jobs.
We, the undersigned, fully support Lidl's application for the provision of a neighborhood food store, on the former Peugeot Car Dealership Site, 482 Ley Street, Ilford.
