Good news!

Our proposal for the former B&Q unit on Easter Road has been granted detailed planning consent and a provisional alcohol licence.

You can read the full decision notice on the Council’s online Planning Portal (http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/planning) using reference 14/02674/FUL. Here you can view our proposed plans in detail and see how we intend to develop the site from its existing dilapidated state into a new and modern development.

I would personally like to thank everyone who signed this petition for your notice of support for this project. Without your support we may not have succeeded in gaining the required consent to proceed with our plans.
As for the next step we are now tendering the project with our approved contractors ahead of appointing and starting on site. We are targeting a summer 2015 opening and look forward to welcoming you to the new store.

Please keep an eye out for the new store opening!

Lidl propose the following:

• Provision of a new neighbourhood foodstore (842 m² sales area).

• 28 free parking bays of which 5 will be disabled / parent and child spaces.

• A complete overhaul and refurbishment of the former B&Q unit.

• The building elevations will include a new glazed shopfront, canopy, modern Alucobond cladding and new rendering.

• The store will receive no more then 2 deliveries each day which will take place at the rear of the building.

• A limited range of products (1,500 lines) necessitating continued use of existing local retailers.

• Provision of up to 30 new jobs for the local community plus construction jobs.

We, the undersigned, call on Edinburgh City Council to grant planning consent for the proposed Lidl development on Easter Road:
