Let Tony Ferguson keep the interim belt

The UFC is unfairly stripping Tony Ferguson of the Lightweight Interim Title.
Not everyone agrees with interim titles, but if they're gonna have them, be fair about it. Tony ferguson is the current interim champion and incurred an injury 6 days prior to his fight at UFC 223. It was a freak accident and if it was up to him, he would still fight. This injury happened while he was fulfilling media obligations for the fight. He is a gamed fighter and has never turned down a fight. If Tony can't / won't fight by Oct 7, 2018, then we can understand stripping him, even though they allow the current lightweight champion, Conor McGregor to not defend and do things outside of the UFC for 500+ days. The UFC should hold all fighters to the same expectations and give fighters the same oppertunities, leeways and benefits.

With that said, the former middleweight interim champion, Robert Whittaker was also injured while he held the the Interim title and the UFC allowed him to keep his title. Not only that, but they handed him the real middleweight title after Georges St. Pierre vacated the title. We are not asking the UFC to just hand over the real belt to Tony, but to allow him to keep his title and allow him to defend and or unify the belts after he is cleared to fight again ( given it happens before Oct 7, 2018, which is 1 year since he won the title.)

There are certain perks that go along with being a title holder whether it's the interim or undisputed champion. Tony won the interim fair and square and should be able to benefit from the perks that go along with it. It's not like Tony is refusing to fight, he just can't. Tony has made sacrifices and invested a lot of time, energy and money to prepare for this fight and was happily meeting The UFC's obligations.

Whether you agree on interim titles are not, call on the UFC to give equal opportunities to all fighters and hold the same standards and practices to all.
