The use of psilocybin dates back thousands of years, long before our wonderful country was ever conceived. Psilocybin is a hallucinogenic alkaloid found in over 200 species of mushrooms world wide.
Psilocybin has been proven to heal the human mind on many accounts. In several controlled tests (clinical trials), psilocybin has been successful in treating end of life distress and in a vast majority of patients, their symptoms were reduced to an immeasurable level. Similar studies have been done regarding PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), anxiety, depression, scuicidality, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), cluster migranes/headaches, and addictions such as alcoholism and tobacco dependency; all of which have proven an incredibly high rate of success in benefiting the patients.
Psilocybin has been shown to be physiologically non addictive. It is regarded as the safest drug to take in terms of needing to seek emergency medical treatment, and the least harmful drug both to the user and to others. Out of almost 10,000 magic mushroom consumers last year, only 0.2% (13 men and 4 women) reported seeking emergency medical attention.
We, the undersigned, call on the Prime Minister of Canada to legalize the medicinal use of psilocybin, and all psilocybin containing mushrooms, nationwide.
