The online gambling industry is developing at a phenomenal rate, as evidenced by the high level of innovative gaming technologies and the increase in tax revenues in those countries that have officially legalized this type of activity. However, regulators face multiple challenges in controlling gambling. Problems are created by the specifics of the Internet, a wide variety of games, as well as the endless search by players for new gaming sites and exciting combinations of bets.

Most regions of the world have their own legal regulations that govern the status of online gambling and betting. However, many countries are constantly changing the relevant legislation, so it is difficult for companies to keep abreast of the latest updates and know what and in which part of the world is permissible and what is not.

On the territory of each gambling jurisdiction, there is an authorized body that issues licenses to operators and regulates their activities. In order to legally provide services in such a jurisdiction, the operator must obtain a local license. One of the conditions is the operator's obligation to provide at least some of its services in the territory of the jurisdiction where its website is located. This is why many online gambling operators carefully choose their location depending on the laws and practices of regulating online gambling in the region.

Unfortunately, New Zealand has no straightforward approach to the gambling industry. Land-based casinos operate, and their activities are not prohibited, while online casinos are not permitted, and players are forced to play on foreign sites of unknown quality. We ask to align conditions and allow us to play also in online casinos without prohibitions.

We, the undersigned, call on the New Zealand Government to legalize the online gambling in the country.
