I would also like to propose keeping the light rail open until 2:00 AM so that people who are drinking are more discouraged from drinking and driving because they will have a surefire way of getting home. From data gathered from the National Highway Traffic. Safety Administration; In Sacramento in 2014 there were 169 deaths by car accident. This is very alarming. However, cars depend on their drivers to avoid accidents, and humans are not perfect 34 percent of these 169 deaths involved alcohol.
With so many deaths from alcohol related driving incidents, i would like to see less innocent lives being taken, and people making life altering mistakes because of one night. With the light rail staying open until 2:00 Am people having a night out drinking would be able to get home without relying on driving themselves home or an unreliable designated driver.
