After a mine fire that started in Centralia PA in 1962, the residents of that town were convinced by the Department of Environmental Resources now the Department of Environmental Protection and the Federal Office of Surface mining that there town was unsafe. They provided money for the residents to move and tore down their homes.
About 10 families refused to move because they knew the mines and knew the fire would not get to them. After losing all appeals, they are being forced from their homes even though the fire hasn't progressed in 47 years. Please help the final residents of Centralia, PA.
