Media reports indicate Blake Austin has been offered a role at the Canberra Raiders for 2015, despite being contracted by the Wests Tigers. in 2014 the majority of registered users on the largest fan forum related to the Wests Tigers agreed that he has been our best player.
Reports indicate he is being overlooked for his favoured position in favour of two rookies who have yet to prove they are better options. This is the reason he wants to look elsewhere. While looking to the future is a nice idea, Blake Austin is the better option right now and deserves to be given first option on the jersey for the 2014 season. Make Mitchell Moses win the jersey from him! This favouritism and lack of accountability to your performances (nothing against Mitch Moses) has been a hallmark of the many years of frustration and lack of results that we as fans have had to put up with.
In my personal opinion, in addition to his playing skill his attitude, off field personality and determination make him a potential future captain of the club, let alone preferred number six.
We, the undersigned, call on the Wests Tigers to retain Blake Austin for the 2015 season and give him the opportunity to make the five-eighth position his own. Put aside backroom politics and give the guy his fair crack.
He has been the best player in the team in 2014.
