Justice for Jordans aim is to change a loophole in the law that allows people to go unpunished for causing someone's death unlawfully.
On the 28th of January 2008 my 12 year old son was chased by two youths which resulted in his death. Although the coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing the two youths were not prosecuted.
Despite all attempts over the last two years to get the youths responsible charged with his death we still have had no results.
Although i know that it will not bring my son back, I hope it will prevent other families facing the agony that me and my family have had to face during this long and tragic period.
We, the undersigned, call for the law to be amended so that the loophole in the law, which allows offenders to escape without prosecution after committing a crime which causes a persons death.
The verdict of unlawful killing should result in a custodial sentence even when the offender has not causes actual bodily harm to their victim.
We believe that it needs amending as the victims family face a life sentence while the offender is allowed to continue on with their life facing no penalties.
