Many registered voters took part in two separate Prison Reform Lobby Days in Sacramento. In four separate counties Orange, San Diego, San Bernadino, and Los Angeles took part in town hall forums “Does California need more mini Prisons”.
Many taxpayers who attended forum agreed money needs to be spending on Health Care, Transportation, Parks, and Schools. Instead, our elected officials took it upon themselves to use $6.1 billion in revenue lease bonds, which do not have to go to voters for approval.
We, the undersigned, call on Honorable U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton not to be fooled by our elected officials who rushed to build more prisons without voter approval.
The best solution to ease overcrowding from occurring is by fixing sentence, parole, three strikes reform and not shipping inmates to out-of-state prisons.
