An Indian was subject to a disgraceful and inhumane service from the front office at the Indian High Commission whilst attempting to obtain an Emergency Visa, following the sudden demise of his father. He was subject to inhumane behaviour and abuse from the High Commission staff.
While waiting to speak to a staff member this Indian observed another lady desperately trying to convince the staff at the door that her parent had passed away and that she therefore needs a visa urgently. The staff’s response to her was rather brutal as they asked her to “go away” since she did not have a letter to prove the bereavement.
Second in line was a gentleman in a similar situation again being asked to go away. The reason given to him was the letter he had to prove the bereavement was not on a letterhead!
This website (www.ukmalayalee.com) has received several e-mails related to people facing abuse from the front office staff at the Indian High Commission. Although it is common knowledge that the staff have to act only legally it said that they are very rude and not offering any helping hand to those who approach them which in turn puts the High Commission in a bad light.
Many have felt that it is long overdue that serious action is taken to rectify poor customer service and also discipline such outrageous and appalling staff on their poor behaviour.
Through this campaign we are trying to bring to the attention of the Indian High Commission officials how the NRIs feel when they are at the Indian High Commission office. We are just requesting you to treat us fairly and offer a helping hand when in need.
