As we have seen the effects of the LIBOR scandal, we can see how our big banks have deliberately crashed the economy for personal wealth gain.
Bank profits are highest since before the recession even as the banks plan thousands of layoffs.
Banks make nearly one-third of total corporate profits. Since 2008, the biggest banks have gotten bigger.
If we are serious about restoring Canada's economy, we should tax the big banks who crashed Canada's economy.
As of now, the big banks are having profitable fiscal years. They should repay our government through higher taxes to lift our country out of debt.
This petition is for raising taxes on the financial sector by at least 15%.
We also demand that banks lower loan rates to citizens and corporations.
