IN SUPPORT OF INCREASING GRADUATE STUDENT FUNDING BUDGET

Graduate and Professional Funding Committee (SGA-FIU) is looking for your support to request an increase in budget for graduate student funding.

WHEREAS, Graduate and Professional Students Committee is the major funding entity at Florida International University – MMC Campus, available for all graduate, Law and Medical students seeking funding for conference, research and professional development;

WHEREAS, 95% of the current budget of $195,000 was allocated by December 2012;

WHEREAS, The number of funding applications has doubled in 2012-2013 fiscal year compared to the previous 2011-2012 fiscal year;

WHEREAS, The number of students enrolled in graduate programs is steadily increasing each year;

WHEREAS, The current budget does not allow for any programming due to insufficient funds, while historically Graduate and Professional Students Committee successfully hosted academic and non-academic events;
