Mr. Samir Gharib sent a message to Menia Governor, Fouad Saad AlDeen asking him to stop destruction actions on Hoda Chaarawi's house in Menia and excluding the house from the heritage list.
Hoda Chaarawi was a pioneer Egyptian feminist leader and nationalist.
In 1923 Chaarawi founded and became the first president of the Egyptian Feminist Union. She led Egyptian women pickets at the opening of Parliament in January 1924 and submitted a list of nationalist and feminist demands, which were ignored by the Wafdist government, whereupon she resigned from the Wafdist Women's Central Committee.
We are targeting the concerned authorities to stop such a shameful action on our piece of history and taking some more careness for our heritage.
PS: We are mainly a group of people concerned with preserving our heritage not following any organizations or parties.
We, the undersigned, call on the concerned authorities to stop destructive actions taken on Hoda Chaarawi's house in Menia.
