Improve Hull University, Scarborough Campus Canteen Food

This petition is for people staying in Caylay Halls, at Hull University, Scarborough Campus.

As current Cayley Hall residents we request that the situation regarding the quality of the food in the canteen, the price of the food and the selection of food is rectified as soon as possible.

When first shown the accommodation all the students were told that the food card would allow us to purchase 3 meals a day. Daily it can be shown that it is unable to purchase more than 2 meals a day.

A typical meal in the canteen costs £3.35 including drink and main meal (this is when using meal deals, weirdly the food costs more if we don't purchase vegetables with out meals). Also the price doesn't include a dessert which usually cost £1 extra. Famous chef's such as Jamie Oliver have already proven that its possible to make high quality, healthy food on a budget.

The selection of food available from the canteen is very poor, normally there are only 3-5 choices, only 1 vegetarian choice and sometimes it comes to the choice of which food we least dislike.

Regarding the quality of the food, many students complain of the poor quality, while is is understandable that the canteen needs to keep its costs to minimum through shopping around the canteen should be able to find a good quality, low price supplier that has the quality that satisfies the students but at a price which is affordable.

Examples of food which is low quality include the meat for Sunday roast (roast beef, pork etc) and overcooked Yorkshire puddings.
