Your Excellency,
We wish to appeal to you on behalf of Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh who is the subject of our deepest concern.
Ms. Sotoudeh was arrested on June 13, 2018 and sentenced to 38 years in prison and 148 lashes.
Mrs. Sotoudeh received the The PEN/Barbara Goldsmith Freedom to Write Award, the Giuseppe Motta Medal for the Protection of Human Rights, he won the prestigious Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought of the European Parliament for his work as a human rights lawyer in Iran and on 21 September 2018, she was awarded the annual tribute for a lawyer, the twenty_third Ludovic-Trarieux International Human Rights Prize.
Ms. Sotoudeh has been on a fame strike since August 11, 2020 and her health condition has significantly deteriorated. The husband and his children cannot speak and see Nasrin.
We support and share Ms. Sotoudeh's request for the release of political prisoners who today risk contagion from Covid 19 in prison.
We ask for the immediate release of Ms. Sotoudeh.
We ask for the immediate release of all political prisoners who are currently still in overcrowded prisons which do not guarantee any protection from the virus.
We thank you in advance for the time you will devote to this important and urgent matter.
Yours sincerely.
