Class sizes in fourth grade at Onahan Elementary located at 6634 W Raven Street, Chicago, IL 60631 have reached as high as more than 31 students per class under the instruction of one teacher.
Last school year 2014-2015 Onahan students were offered three separate classes. In school year 2015-2016 Onahan students who advanced to fourth grade are combined into only two separate classes.
We, the parents, grand parents and members of the community, need our children to succeed and they will be better able to do so with more one-on-one help, additional teachers and smaller class sizes.
Their current academic professionals who were faced with this problem, need support from other teachers and para-professionals so that they can focus on enhancing their curriculum to the benefit of students and society.
We, the undersigned, call on Mayor Rahm Emanuel and ChicagoPublic School Department of Education (Principal: Karen Koegler, Vice Principal: Marianne Patten) and Alderman Anthony Napolitano, and Alderman John Arena to hire a fourth grade teacher as a means to offer smaller class sizes for the students at Onahan Elementary located at 6634 W Raven Street, Chicago, IL 60631.
