Lehi High School Boundary Decision Final Result Update
On January 27, 2015 the Alpine School District Board of Education Board Members voted unanimously in favor of the RED boundary proposal for the Lehi High School area.
Thank you for joining the effort to raise awareness of the importance of keeping the students of Lehi Junior High together as they transition from junior high to high school each year.
The school board members stated in their closing remarks their appreciation to the community for their input during the boundary decision process. Our efforts to raise awareness of the benefits of feeder school systems for our kids have been heard by our elected officials and they have committed to continue working to implement and strengthen feeder school systems wherever possible in the Alpine School District. The Alpine School District presently oversees and makes important education decisions for close to 76,000 students in elementary, junior high, and high schools in Utah County.
In light of this result the online petition found at the link below is now closed.

A new high school is scheduled to open in Lehi Utah in the fall of 2016. In preparation for the opening of this new high school, the Alpine School District Board of Education presented a boundary proposal map which indicated the area would be divided into a north and a south area with the new high school servicing the north area and the south area begin serviced by the old high school.
A group of concerned parents and students realized that the boards proposal would require about 15% of the students of one of the junior highs in the area (Lehi Junior High) to be split from their peers as they moved from 9th to 10th grade every year.
These parents and students believe strongly that it is important for the academic and social well being of all the students, that these kids be allowed to attend high school in the same place as the other students they have gone to school with since they began attending their elementary schools in kindergarten. They organized a door to door campaign and collected close to 700 signatures in one weekend to ask the school board to create a new boundary proposal that would allow the students of Lehi Junior High to stay together as the student body transitions to the high school level of education.
In response to the publics request, the school board has now created an alternative boundary proposal that would allow the junior high students to stay together as they move to high school. The original boundary proposal is called the BLUE proposal and the new boundary proposal is called the RED proposal. The school board is again asking for the publics input regarding which boundary they feel is best for the students and the community.
This petition has been created to allow the public to show their support for the RED boundary proposal, which will allow the junior high students to stay together when they move into their high school years.
The school board has announced that they will hold a vote amongst themselves on this topic at their next public meeting on Tuesday January 27, 2015 at 6pm at Black Ridge Elementary School. You are encouraged to attend and to wear RED to the meeting in support of the RED boundary proposal.
The proposed boundary maps are shown here:
We call on the Alpine School District Board of Education members, to vote in favor of the RED boundary proposal for the Lehi High School area, so that the students of Lehi Junior High can remain together with their peers as they transition into high school every year between 9th and 10th grade.
