Greyhound racing is a very tragic sport that usually ends in death or serious injury of the dogs. Most dogs are exported to other countries such as Asia, that cruelly treat the dogs. Live baiting is where they use live animals for practice and to train the dogs. In Australia, it is illegal to use live baiting but in some countries, it is still legal, and it leaves the dogs in pain and fear, the dogs will most likely die from this. Unfortunately about 200 dogs are severely injured every week and over 750 a month. One of the main causes of death in the greyhound industry is over breeding, out of the 20,000 dogs that are bred each year, more than 10,000 of these dogs are killed from being noncompetitive racing dogs. Dogs are given illegal performance enhancing, such as amphetamines (like ice), caffeine and steroids that are deadly to the dogs. A normal healthy Greyhound dog's life expectancy is 12 years, and a racing Greyhound dog's life expectancy is 4.5 years, which is an astonishing 2.67% less that a normal healthy greyhound.
