The Arkansas Department of Health is reminding parents of the danger that is present when young children are around swimming pools, lakes and streams.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger. Drowning is the sixth leading cause of unintentional injury death for people of all ages, and the second leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 14 years.”
Our community of Heber Springs, Ark endured a devastating loss on June 11, 2012 when the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Sandy Beach area to the report of a drowning of 13 year old Robert Daniel Woods.
Please join us to sign a petition in order to have lifeguards and/or volunteer lifeguards patrol Sandy Beach best known as a "Family Beach."
This petition will be in Robert Wood's memory and our way to take a stand to save the lives of others.
