The speed limit on Birdneck Rd., in Virginia Beach, VA may be increasing to 45mph. This is unsafe for a residential community with children, elderly, parishioners, etc.
As we have seen with examples on Shore Drive, this can be dangerous, even deadly, to citizens who use the street for exercising, crossing, etc.
We the undersigned citizens of the city of Virginia Beach, VA, hereby request from the City that the speed limit on Birdneck Rd. from Mount Olive Baptist Church to Bells Rd. remain at a reasonable speed of 30 miles per hour.
This is a residential neighborhood with many elder citizens and children who walk, ride bikes, etc. There is also the Seatack Recreation Center and a few community churches that benefit from having a speed limit of no more than 30 miles per hours as customers, citizens, parishioners are all concerned for their safety when walking and driving to and from these locations.
We hereby present our signatures in a petition to the city that they meet our request. I reside, work, and/or worship in the Seatack of the City of Virginia Beach. My residence address is correctly stated, and I have knowingly signed this petition only once.
