Rabbit Runaway Orphanage (RRO) is a non-profit organisation and operates as an incorporated association. It is a public charity, run by a committee under Australian Law, with membership and a small dedicated group of volunteers. It is Victoria's first and only dedicated No Kill Pet Rabbit Sanctuary.

RRO receives no government funding and is reliant soley on donations and fundraising. It is an entity that belongs to all people that care about the welfare of pet rabbits. They are unique as Bunny orphans come to RRO as ‘overflows’ from other animal shelters.

RRO aims to provide care for sick, unwanted, stray, or mistreated rabbits and facilitate appropriate short-term care, medical treatment, rehabilitation treatment, long-term re-homing solutions, educate the public on rabbit ownership and care, prevent unnecessary euthanasia of rabbits and discourage the cruelty inflicted upon rabbits.

We (the volunteers and supporters) want to get Judi and Bryce Inglis on the Ellen show when she comes to Australia in March. We want them to have the opportunity to be exposed to a wider audience, tell their story and help educate on pet rabbits.

We (the volunteers and supporters) want to get Rabbit Runaway Orphanage (RRO) on the Ellen DeGeneres show when she comes to Australia in March. Bringing to the wider public's attention the fantastic work and advocacy that RRO do for rabbits as companion animals in Australia and worldwide.

RRO is Victoria's (state in Australia) first and only dedicated No Kill Pet Rabbit Sanctuary.

They overcame adversity last year when a lack of funds to vet work bunnies and support the general costs of running the orphanage nearly closed it down. Through membership and kind donations they survived, but only just. Now RRO is experiencing a similar situation with funding.

In 2011 the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) overturned a local council (the Yarra Ranges) decision to have RRO closed. In this instance, Animal Welfare rights won out!

Judi and Bryce’s passion for pet rabbits was born in 2003 when two bunnies arrived through a hole in their back fence, the two young giant rabbits (type of breed) intrigued them with their intelligence and gorgeous natures. When they became aware of the alarmingly high number of rabbits dumped in night boxes at shelters and subsequently euthanatised, Judi and Bryce’s journey into pet rabbit welfare began.

Last year two rabbits were rescued by a good Samaritan who caught a couple in the act of drowning them in a river, two rabbits that they 'didn't want anymore'. These two bunnies are now safe at the orphanage blissfully unaware of how close they came to death as unwanted pets. It is this exact mentality and behavior towards domestic rabbits the RRO is trying to change.

Both Judi and Bryce Inglis are educators of/with the oldest and the most respected rabbit welfare charity in the world; the House Rabbit Society (USA). Rabbits are the third most popular domestic pet after cats and dogs in the USA and UK.

We, the undersigned, call on the Ellen show to allow Judi and Bryce Inglis to have the opportunity to be exposed to a wider audience, tell their story and help educate on pet rabbits by coming on the Ellen show.
