It's been a little over a year and our community has grown pretty substantially. There's so much to be excited about especially the grand opening of the much anticipated Farmhouse recreation center, pool, and gym. However, there's much less excitement over the play areas; more specifically the playground and splash pad.
After confidently investing into a neighborhood that is just as expensive as some of the other nearby communities, we are saddened to come together over such an issue as this. Our playground and play areas are no where near the same in value, design or safety as Aliana, Sienna, Waterside, River Park or Riverstone, to name a few.
After countless emails and calls to the developers and the HOA, we have not received back any form of communication that our concerns are being heard or evaluated. We're deeply concerned at the lack of communication and would like nothing more than to have a great relationship so that we can work together to create spaces that are safe, fun and beautiful for all community residents.
This petition is for the families in Harvest Green who are fighting for a safer and better designed playground. We realize this is a new development and it takes time to come together. However, the concerns are growing and urgent. What we currently have is a hazardous, poorly designed, and uninviting space. Whether you live here now or you're planning to move in soon, the main playground is not inclusive of all ages and abilities. It is dangerous for even the oldest children. It is also lacking in capacity for the amount of children that already live in the community, not including future residents. Our central community area - where we all meet to enjoy and grow life together - has some major opportunities as it lacks in safety, functionality and design.
Some of our key concerns:
- safer play structure (whether new or reconfigured)
- a main play area inclusive of all ages
- better flooring of the play area
- more swings (including baby swings)
- better flooring to the splash pad area
- added elements to the stagnant splash pad
- play area design that matches the farmhouse theme
- better seating around the park
- shade for the brutal summer months (preferably over the play areas)
- better designed functional spaces (other than soccer fields)
- information and inclusion in the design or approval of future pocket parks
These are just a few of our concerns and requests.
