The government plan a series of changes to nursery schooling, due to take effect in Hampshire between now and 2010.
These changes include a clamp-down on charging top-up fees - which could leave some nurseries unable to cover their costs. In turn this could make some have to go private altogether (so fewer parents could afford them), while some might even have to close.
We are calling on Children’s Minister, Beverley Hughes MP, to ‘pause’ and carry out a full impact assessment of these changes before pressing ahead.
We, the undersigned, call on Rt Hon Beverley Hughes MP to suspend implementation of new funding arrangements for nursery schools in the private, voluntary and independent sector in Hampshire, pending a full assessment of the impact of these changes.
