Grant grandparents rights in South Carolina

According to the U.S. 2000 Census, there were close to 2 1/2 million households with grandparents raising their grandchildren. Fifty-seven percent of grandparents raising their grandchildren are still in the work force and 17% are living in poverty. It will be interesting to learn what the 2010 Census will show.

A great percentage of these are living in SC without the benefit of having parenting or visitation rights. The parent, whether fit or not, has the right to come and retrieve the child/children whenever they want and the grandparent has no recourse to prevent this from happening.
