It has been announced that Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and American Dad is producing a spinoff called The Cleveland Show. The supporting character, Cleveland Brown is moving back to his home town in Virginia where he marries his high school sweethart.
His new wife has two kids from a previous marriage and he brings his son Cleveland Jr. with him. He starts his life over with new friends which include two talking bears, male and female, a British family living as if it was still colonial England and some rednecks. This has Family Guy all over it. The show is a copy of both Family Guy and American Dad. All three shows are about families and there is nothing differant about The Cleveland Show that will set it apart from the other two.
A spinoff about Meg would work better. It would feature Meg as sets off to college with other characters from Family Guy she would interact with. They include Neil Goldman, Connie DiMico, her small clique of friends and even Hayley Smith from American Dad. There would also be new students and professors she would also interact with. This would work because it involves a teenage girl trying to make it on her own in college and the triumphs and difficulties she faces and the people around her. It would be a refreshing change and it would be better than The Cleveland Show which is a black version of Family Guy. Meg would have the spotlight and there would be writers who know how to write for teenage girls.
The Meg bashing would be eliminated and Meg would be a great character. She would get a new look and would have the chance to show off her talents that weren't used or not used enough on the show like bird calling, swimming and playing the drums.
We, Family Guy fans, call on Seth MacFarlane and the Fox Television Network to give Meg Griffin of Family Guy her own show.
Meg Griffin has been used as a punching bag and it is not funny. It is uncreative, lazy writing on behalf of the writers and Seth MacFarlane. She has been called ugly (which she is not) and has been abuse. The writers don't know how to write for teenagers and giving Meg her own show with talented writers who know how to write for teengirls would be great.
She has had a couple of episodes this past season but there still has been too much of Peter, Brian and Stewie and these three characters have been done to death. Meg would be a much better choice and she would use her talents and grow more than she would on Family Guy.
Please give Meg Griffin her own show. She deserves a break.
