Give Equal Distribution of Funding Among Michigan Schools

Dispersing school funding on a base of tax and performance limits the resources of school districts in areas of lesser wealth. Limited resources only maintain poor performance among schools. This has become a never-ending cycle that continues to segregate students and communities by socio-economic status.

Students have unequal opportunity living in areas that are in poor economic standing because school districts in their community shut down schools for lack of performance, which happened in the first place because they didn't receive adequate funding for the resources needed to compete with higher performing schools.

Statistics show that wealthier districts such as Bloomfield Hills, Okemos, Forrest Hills continuously perform better than Detroit, Flint or Saginaw (http://www.mlive.com/education/index.ssf/2014/01/michigans_most_over-achieving.html) districts, who receive less funding.
