As a survivor of Traumatic Brain Injury, Julie Abbott have come to realize how important awareness of this injury is before an individual becomes injured and also prevention methods that a person may take. There is no cure for Traumatic Brain Injury.
According to the Brain Injury Association of America:
“Brain injuries are the leading cause of death and disability among children and adults under the age of 45. The national incidence of TBI is five times higher than the annual incidence of spinal cord injury, HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, and multiple sclerosis combined, yet it remains relatively unrecognized by the general public.”
With this in mind and knowing that if anyone can raise awareness of a cause, it is Oprah Winfrey, we are petitioning to have Julie be a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show to promote awareness.
We, the undersigned, support and encourage Oprah Winfrey having Julie Abbott as a guest on her show to promote Traumatic Brain Injury, based on the fact that this “silent epidemic” has personally affected her, and millions of other Americans, and is relatively unrecognized unless it affects a person personally, and she would be an excellent spokesperson for awareness and also encouragement to others with this injury.
