High Hopes (1999-2009) was the longest-running Welsh sitcom ever broadcast on BBC Television. Running for 6 seasons, it has a wide and loyal fan-base, but no series have ever been made available for purchase on DVD. Leaving fans no choice but to watch the few episodes that are available on YouTube.
With such a quality cast, including Margaret John and Keiron Self, and excellent writers, it seems a shame that such a well-loved programme has been more--or-less consigned to the History books.
High Hopes is one of the few good comedies of recent years that has truly been designed with Welsh humour and sensibilities in mind. We urge the BBC to make all series of High Hopes available to the general public.
