UPDATE:
WE HAVE OVER 1000 SIGNATURES INCLUDING THE HAND SIGNED PETITIONS!
The vote is Nov. 28th at 3pm for the re-zoning. If you live on the Island, please contact your council member and urge them to vote NO.
If you do not live here, please leave a comment on the petition. We are forwarding all the comments to the council.
Everyone that lives, visits or plans to visit is important to the future of Galveston. She needs you more than ever right now.
The current zoning for this 1000 acre property is single family residential.
If the General Plan for this project is approved under the requested zoning changes, the developers will never have to go through any local or public permitting process again, because recreational zoning has no public input opportunity.
By approving this zoning change, the city council would set a precedent that has implications for the entire island---a precedent for action that effectively silences citizens' participation in issues that directly affect their property, property values, quality of life and public safety.
Please consider leaving comments. These will help our city leaders understand your views and needs.
We, the undersigned citizens of Galveston Texas respectfully request that our City Council Members and Mayor:
Vote No on the Marquette development re- zoning application for Recreational Zoning.
