Through a generous grant award from the LWCF in 2018, the City of Hillsboro added a sand volleyball court, picnic shelter, trail benches, and other needed amenities to the 9-acre neighborhood park, and enhanced the vegetated corridor of Reedville Creek which runs through the park.

Looking to build on forward momentum, the City plans to rehabilitate the aging, 1,800 square foot playground area (installed in the early 2000’s) by increasing the size to 5,000 square feet and making the site more safe, modern, and interactive, accessible. Proposed improvements include: installing a perimeter fence around the playground; replacing the existing drinking fountain with an ADA, year-round drinking fountain; adding informal picnic areas; and including a separate play structure for children aged 2-5.

We support the Frances St. Park playground upgrade project as the playground is very small, outdated, and as an unfenced corner park, very unsafe. We agree that the new playground needs to provide more opportunities for play for children of different ages, abilities, and preferences.
