We as foster parents in Baltimore Maryland don't have much say when foster children are placed in our homes.
We as foster parents want more say when the children are in our homes the longest and the biological parents aren't getting themselves together, we should be able to help get the case workers and parents into court to terminate their rights much faster, then to have kids lingering around to keep more money for DSS.
Foster parent don't get enough payments per month to receive the treatment the system aka case workers dish out to us. We want to be to able speak our minds and be able to advocate for the children. After all they are in our homes 24/7 / 365 days.
We the undersign want more say as foster parents and more pay. We want to advocate more for the children, beings that we are the acting parents aka care taker, nurturer, provider and counselor for the children.
In other words we are case workers as well. They truly do nothing for the children besides make them become failures to thrive by moving them from house to house, when they don't like the foster parent or no one is kissing up to them.
The pay is small and our bills continue to stand tall. Foster children should only need six months in the system nothing longer. When children stay in system longer it just gives Dss more money in time to allow the biological to become more lazy with not getting themselves together. System needs change , allow children six months to one year in the system. Then we should be able to adopt them.
