The Ministry of Health and Child Care is running an online system for recruiting aspiring nurses. Amongst other requirements, applicants, applicants are required to make an online payment of ZW$10 via Ecocash on the site. However, this system has been dysfunctional since the announcement of the application period. The advertised 08 December 2019 deadline is nearing yet aspiring nurses are still unable to submit their applications.
We the undersigned call on the Ministry of Health and Child Care to consider and implement some of the following solutions to the nursing applications problem:
1) Fix the application program interface (API) for this payment without further delay. OR
2) Introduce other forms of payment besides Ecocash, OR
3) Scrap the requirement for ZW$10 payment, OR
4) Any combination of the above. AND
5) Extend the applications deadline by no less than 7 days
We further call upon the Ministry to make provisions for the introduction of applications portals for each nursing school in line with the principles of devolution of power enshrined in Chapter 14 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
